ANDY MURRAY BEGINS QUEEN’S CLUB QUEST WITH ALEX DE MINAUR MATCH, CARLOS ALCARAZ COULD FACE MATTEO BERRETTINI

Andy Murray will face Australia’s world No. 18 and seventh seed Alex de Minaur in the first round of the Queen’s Club Championships.

The Brit has lost all three of his matches against De Minaur – the last of which was a 6-1 6-3 humbling at the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year – but should the Brit prevail, he could face Diego Schwartzman in round two and Taylor Fritz at the quarter-final stage.

The 36-year-old Murray has made a strong start to the grass-court swing, winning the ATP Challenger Tour event in Surbiton and progressing to the final of the Nottingham event.

Second seed Holger Rune is also on Murray’s side of the draw. He begins against Maxime Cressy looking to win his first tour-level match on grass.

Debutant Carlos Alcaraz will begin his tournament against a yet-to-be-decided qualifier. Should the world No. 2 win that match and a second-round encounter against Jiri Lehecka or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, he could face off against two-time defending champion Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals.

Berrettini begins against Emil Ruusuvuori in a top half of the draw that also includes Cameron Norrie and Dan Evans.
Norrie – a finalist in 2021 – starts against Miomir Kecmanovic and Evans plays Sebastian Korda in round one.
