Wyndham Clark Joins Brian Harman to Validate the ‘Tough’ Scottie Scheffler Threat: ‘Trying to Chase’

“There’s lots of parts of me that hope he doesn’t play.” wished an honest Brian Harman about Scottie Scheffler while gearing up for the RBC Heritage. Unfortunately, he had failed to make the cut at the major championship and was hoping for a better result at the signature event. Well, it appears the world No. 1 is a scary person to have in the field for many, and, surprisingly, Wyndham Clark seems to agree as well.

The current World No. 5 on the rankings was spotted in an interview after he finished his Sunday round at the Harbour Town Golf Links. However, he couldn’t help but point out how Scheffler has been giving a hard time to the other golfers, all thanks to his amazing display of golf at the PGA Tour event.

Wyndham Clark dishes out praise for Scottie Scheffler

During the presser, Clark was queried on what the runner-up finish in the signature event means for him. “I mean, it’s huge,” replied the pro as he highlighted how good the ranking benefits on the OWGR and the dollar bills are for the event. But even so, he made sure to mention how the current World No.1 is everyone’s target; “The points are big and obviously the money is nice, but everyone is trying to chase Scottie and he’s making really tough because he keeps winning.”

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old also went ahead to express satisfaction regarding his performance at RBC Heritage. What’s more, he also conveyed hope for a better 2024 in the PGA Tour as well, all the while keeping his momentum going forward; “You know, second, being seconds or third in the points list is big and that’s huge for me. It’s one really good week and hopefully propels me for the rest of the year.”

Well, from outside the top 15 on the scoreboard, the 2023 U.S. Open champ managed to climb to the second spot with a score of 15-under 269. Although he is currently tied for the spot with 3 other golfers, and they still have holes left to play owing to the suspension, a total of 19 birdies and 2 eagles have helped him cement a spot inside the top 10, if not the top 5, with ease.
