In Scottie Scheffler’s Absence, His Parents Earn Golf World’s Respect With ‘Hilarious and Wholesome’ Gesture

Scottie Scheffler skipped the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, but not his parents. Seven years ago, the reigning Masters champion made his PGA Tour debut at the Dallas event. But the venue, Four Seasons Resort, has changed to TPC Craig Ranch in 2021. So, the Scheffler family’s presence surprised many.

But Scott and Diane Scheffler had their reasons. They were tagging Tom Kim on the course. In a brief chat with a journalist, they also offered updates on Scheffler’s return.

Why were Scottie Scheffler’s parents following Tom Kim?

Golfweek’s Adam Shcupak first reported that the Scheffler family was at Craig Ranch. The world no. 1 and his wife, Meredith Scudder, are expecting their firstborn. Schupak wrote, “Bumped into Scott and Dianne Scheffler out watching Tom Kim at the CJ Cup. How cool is that? Confirmed no baby yet. Daughter Callie is also on the clock. Exciting times for the Schefflers.”

Scheffler and Kim are buddies on and off the course. They share the same birthday, June 21. In fact, last year, the duo celebrated together, and from that, it was evident why they ‘vibe’ so well. The duo went for pizza to celebrate Kim’s birthday. Scheffler shared a picture on his Instagram story, captioning, “Pizza for the birthday boy”. Back home, muffins and sparkling candles were in store for the reigning Masters champion. Kim captioned the post, calling the 10-time PGA Tour winner his big brother.
