Andy Murray made his long-awaited comeback to clay at the Monte Carlo Masters after sitting out the majority of the 2022 clay court season. However, his comeback wasn’t what he would have hoped for, as he crashed out in the first round. The Australian star Alex de Minaur made short work of the three-time Grand Slam winner.
In the aftermath of Murray’s quick exit from the tournament, tennis fans were talking more about Murray’s on-court antics instead of de Minaur’s excellent performance. Some of them even took to Twitter and expressed dismay at something Murray did during the second set.
Why are fans upset with Andy Murray and what did they say?
Murray was second-best throughout the contest, and de Minaur had raced to a dominant 6-1 first set win. However, soon after the second set got underway, Murray stopped playing entirely in the middle of a rally after his hat fell off his head.
