‘He Didn’t Kiss Me Until the Last Day’ – Roger Federer’s Wife Mirka Explains How Their Relationship Turned Romantic for the First Time

Former Swiss tennis star Roger Federer and his wife Mirka‘s love story is one that no one tires of hearing. The two of them represented their country in professional tennis. While the two represented Switzerland in tennis, the two bonded and their love bloomed in the Summer Olympics of the year 2000.

Mirka later explained how their closeness turned into a romantic relationship in the book ‘The Roger Federer Story.’ Here’s what happened.

How Roger Federer fell in love with Mirka Vavrincova

Back then, Federer was only 19 years old. The Swiss Maestro played brilliantly to book his place in the semifinal of the Olympic Games. Up next, he faced the then World number 48, German tennis star Tommy Haas. Even though the Swiss star ranked above the German, he lost in the semifinal, and later lost the Bronze medal match as well.

Meanwhile, Federer met Mirka, and they bonded well. However, as Mirka recalls in ‘The Roger Federer Story.’ Federer always had tennis as his first priority. Federer once said in a tournament, “I would choose tennis over a girlfriend.”

However, as his tournament ended in disappointment, the former world number one turned his focus totally towards a romantic relationship with Mirka. “He didn’t kiss me until the last day of the Olympic Games,” Mirka recalled.
