Iga Swiatek blushes at heavy compliments, tells she is humble & simple girl
Iga Swiatek has become a great champion and the best player in the women’s game but in her heart the Pole has remained very humble. On Thursday, top-seeded Swiatek kicked off his Stuttgart campaign with a 6-1 6-4 win over Qinwen Zheng.
During Swiatek’s on-court interview, the interview was throwing compliments at the Pole. Swiatek blushed at first but noted that she is just a simple girl. “I’m not considering myself like a celebrity or superstar. I’m kind of the same.
It doesn’t matter what happens,” Swiatek said, per The Tennis Letter.

Swiatek handled the business against Zheng
On Thursday, Swiatek was playing her first match back from a rib injury.
Swiatek made a fast start to the match, breaking Zheng in the second and sixth games to easily win the first set.
In the second set, Swiatek was up by an early break but Zheng managed to get the break back in the eighth game and tie the set to four games apiece.
However, Swiatek was able to keep her focus as the Pole broke Zheng again in the ninth game before serving out for the match in the following game.
“For sure it was difficult. I didn’t play since Indian Wells, I felt like I had to be 100% focused from start til the end to think about technique & tactics.
I’m pretty happy I’m not rusty & I could perform good tennis even though I had a break,” Swiatek said.

Swiatek was playing against Zheng for the third time.
Last year, Swiatek defeated Zheng at the French Open and San Diego Open. “She’s really talented & everybody can see that.
She plays a bit differently than most of the players. I needed to adjust, but I’m just happy I was focused on myself, what I wanted to do & implement from all the practices I had here,” Swiatek said.
