Wimbledon news: Djokovic backs Murray in row as McEnroe warned live on BBC

Express Sport brings you live updates from Monday at Wimbledon as Novak Djokovic returns to action in an attempt to reach the quarter-finals.

While there are no British players left in either the men’s or women’s singles draw, there has been plenty of intriguing action unfolding at Wimbledon over the past few days. As we enter the second week at SW19, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic headline the day’s schedule, with the Serb unable to finish his third-round clash before Sunday’s curfew.

Djokovic led Hubert Hurkacz 7-6, 7-6, in a thrilling tie before the 11.00pm curfew hit once again and the pair will be forced to finish their match today – as there have been many complaints that the tournament on Centre Court need to start earlier in order to avoid this scenario repeating.

Another highly-anticipated clash on Monday is Alcaraz taking on Matteo Berrettini, as the Spaniard looks to get the better of the 2021 Wimbledon finalist. Berrettini was unable to compete last year due to Covid, but is showing why he has such a pedigree at SW19.

While the only British action remaining is in the doubles, where Joe Salisbury and Heather Watson go in the mixed doubles on Court 12 and Jamie Murray teams up with Taylor Townsend against Marcelo Arevalo and Marta Kostyuk.
