4 Days After Hurling Disrespectful ‘Cheating’ Dig at Maria Sharapova, Corentin Moutet Penalized for ‘S***ty Court’ Rant
The French tennis player, Corentin Moutet, recently made headlines after he took a sly dig at the former Russian tennis player, Maria Sharapova. It came after he brought into question the ATP rules of penalizing players for expressing themselves on the court. The former world No. 51 player then accused the tennis association of promoting video clips of such outbursts in order to make money off it. However, a tennis fan with a display picture of Sharapova protested his “expressing” remarks by calling it “cheating”.
It received a blunt response from the ATP player who decided to throw the former tennis ace under the bus with a sly reference. Corentin reminded the fan page about the Russian tennis legend’s previous drug ban in order to fire back at that “cheating” comment. Now, a few days after those comments, the French player was involved in another contentious incident over his abusive rant on the court.
Corentin Moutet gets penalized for his abusive rant at the grass-court event
The former world No. 51 player has started the grass season with an incredible run at the ongoing Mallorca Open, where he reached the quarter-final round. However, he was then outclassed by his compatriot, Adrian Mannarino, in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, in the exciting match of the ATP 250 tournament.
Apart from a stellar display of the game, an incident involving Corentin Moutet also caught the attention of the entire tennis community. During the crucial moments of the match, the French tennis player expressed his frustrations. He was heard saying, “It’s a sh*tty court. Don’t be mad at me [to the crowd]. This court is unplayable. A shame.”

Due to his abusive rant in between the match, the ATP player got penalized at 6-5 *(30-0) and he ended up dropping the set. Apart from this penalty, the currently ranked world No. 80 player also found himself in hot waters due to a heated dispute with his opponent.
The French tennis star previously faced expulsion from a tennis organization
Even during the previous season, Corentin Moutet was shrouded due to his heated argument with his opponent, Adrian Andreev. The contentious incident took place during their match at the Open d’Orléans ATP Challenger, where the French tennis player got involved in a feud on the court. Consequently, the French Federation took some major actions against his disrespectful behavior as they expelled him from the organization.
