Maria Sharapova looks unrecognisable as she ditches blonde locks

Maria Sharapova is sporting a new look as she wowed fans in a denim outfit. The retired tennis star took to Instagram to show off her new hairstyle. The Russian decided to change her trademark blonde locks to a dark brown colour which features some blonde highlights.

The 37-year-old posted a series of photos in a stylish double denim outfit taken in the hallway of what looks like a lavish-looking hotel. She captioned the photo: “Denim on denim, VB style,” and fans filled her comments with plenty of compliments.

“Stunning photos and you look absolutely gorgeous,” one posted before another added: “Love the new look!” The ‘VB’ part of the caption was in reference to former Spice Girl and fashion designer Vicotria Beckham, whose outfit Sharapova was wearing.

In Sharapova’s previous Instagram post, she took a photo with Beckham as she attended her Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show as part of Paris Fashion Week. The former World No. 1 wrote: “Nothing stopping VB, even a broken foot!! Excited to see your beautiful creations this evening.”

This past week marked four years since Sharapova announced her retirement from professional tennis. After dealing with chronic shoulder problems and a drop to 373 in the world rankings, the five-time Grand Slam champion decided to hang up her racket.

“How do you leave behind the only life you’ve ever known?” Sharapova wrote in Vanity Fair Magazine. “How do you walk away from the courts you’ve trained on since you were a little girl, the game that you love.

“One which brought you untold tears and unspeakable joys – a sport where you found a family, along with fans who rallied behind you for more than 28 years? I’m new to this, so please forgive me. Tennis – I’m saying goodbye.” Since leaving the game, Wimbledon’s youngest women’s singles champion has been able to completely throw herself into her love for fashion and business.
