Greg Norman of Exaggerating LIV Golf Success; Mocks Him With Savage 4-Word Dig

Justin Thomas is not convinced. Taking a fresh dig at Greg Norman, Thomas said that the LIV Golf CEO has made only tall claims. The Great White Shark, previously said that there are eight to ten players in the waiting line to join the league. In fact, the Aussie claimed that Jon Rahm’s signing had grown the interest in the Saudi-backed side. But Thomas feels, “they haven’t gotten anything close,” to what Greg Norman claimed.

Speaking to the media ahead of AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the two-time Major winner said, “Yeah, at least from what Greg said, they haven’t gotten anything close to what he’s kind of said. It sounded like they were going to sign 10 or 15 people over however many months & haven’t (been able to sign.)…” After Rahm, there has not been any new signing officially, until Tyrrell Hatton’s just a day ago.

On the flip side, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg, and Tommy Fleetwood have rejected LIV Golf’s bid. Hovland went on to say that his career growth would have been impacted had he joined LIV Golf. Emphasizing that it totally blasts the narrative peddled by Greg Norman, Justin Thomas said, “I don’t really know enough about what’s going on to even kind of give a storyline.”

Rather, the 30-year-old thinks players are still concerned about Majors. But upping the ante, the 15-time PGA Tour winner, also took a subtle dig at the veterans on the other side. “I think at the end of the day the guys that are out there that are still, if you want to call it kind of in their prime or can still play their best golf, I would say that their priorities are still set on the majors versus their season out there.”

OWGR denied world ranking points to the breakaway side, thwarting many LIV Golfers’ hopes of playing at the Majors. So, the World No.26, felt that it had worked against the upstart league. Justin Thomas, however, might have to swallow his words considering the recent upheavals.

Who is going to join LIV Golf next?
Tyrrell Hatton, after much speculation, finally joined LIV Golf as the second member of Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII. The rebel league confirmed the signing of the British Ryder Cup winner without divulging any details. However, early reports indicated that Norman was willing to offer $50M for the World No. 16. Caleb Surrat, and Kieran Vincent will round off the four-man roster.
