Not Just America’s Adored Cover Girl! Nelly Korda Wins Her Solheim Cup Teammates’ Hearts as a Tussle Ensues for Her On-Course Presence
Although the game of golf is more of an individual sport than a team-based one, tournaments like the Solheim Cup each year allow players to come together and exhibit their camaraderie. This time it’s no different as the golfers take to Finca Cortesin to represent their country. And in the midst of all the attention is the ever-talented Nelly Korda.
Her accolades in the game, including the automatic qualification into the team, speak volumes about her capability as a golfer. But what surprised the golf community more was the position that Korda held in the hearts of not just fans, but also her American teammates!
The biennial event follows a session of foursome matches followed by another one of fourball matches. In both formats, two golfers play as partners with each other where each uses a single ball and alternates playing the shots in the former while the latter sees both the golfers play their own balls. When asked about who they would like to pair up with, most of the American team players had only one name, that of Korda.
Although Lilia Vu was not sure if her wish would come true, the 3X LPGA Tour winner was all for the 25-year-old as she expressed her wish to play with the younger Korda sibling. Moreover, adding to the light scuffle, another list of professionals who wanted to get coupled with the 8X LPGA Tour pro were Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang, the latter of whom is the best friend of the 1X major champ.
