Days After Reclaiming the World No. 1 Throne, Nelly Korda Lounges Around With an Unlikely Yet Endearing Companion

It has been a stressful few weeks for the golfing community. Regardless of whether players belong to the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, LIV Golf, LET Tour, or DP World Tour, the events every week can take a toll on the body and mind. So, after days of preparing for a Major event, it is time to unwind.

That is precisely what former Olympic Gold medalist Nelly Korda decided to do when she visited her home. The LPGA star is due at the AIG Women’s Open in South England next week. After the stress of the Amundi Evian Championship, she took some time off to relax and recoup. That’s when she also got to spend time with a friendly companion.

The Korda family, or as they like to call themselves, “The Kordashians,” are quite fond of animals. Their Golden Poodle is often seen in their family pictures or sitting on the youngest Korda sister’s lap with his 30 pounds of weight. However, he is not the only furry buddy who steals their hearts.

While missing the Women’s Scottish Open this week, Nelly Korda took a trip home for some much-needed rejuvenation. She needed some time on the massage table to destress herself and instead came across a hilarious scene. While she lay with her head buried in the face cradle, a surprised kitten stared back at her from the floor.

She shared the story on her Instagram, demonstrating her point of view versus the cat’s as they locked eyes and lay there. Not only this but the World No. 1 often shares beautiful memories with her fur buddies on social media.

It doesn’t matter if they are cats or dogs; the LPGA star loves them all. She is a pet person, and she adores spending time with her favorite companions. And being able to do so while she rests up for the final women’s major next week is certainly a day well spent for world no. 1. Fun aside, Korda will appreciate her time off the green as she has not been keeping well.

Early last year, the younger Korda sister shared the unfortunate news that she had developed a blood clot in her left arm. Since then, it has been an endless cherade of injuries for the old star.

Despite her stunning recent finishes, Korda absolutely needs the rest
Korda had to undergo surgery to have the clot removed, and thankfully, she emerged without any complications. However, just a few months later, she suffered back injuries and had to once again step away from the course for a few weeks.

Since her return to the LPGA after skipping a few events, Korda hasn’t been her best self. In fact, at the Aramco Team Series and the Amundi Evian Championship, she had to push herself to get the best results. Of course, she claimed the individual title at the Centurion Club, made it to the top 10 at the Evian Resort Golf Club, and even reclaimed her No. 1 ranking thanks to these wins. However, she still needed some time off to recoup in order to avoid straining both her arm and her back.

This week for Korda is all about reviving her strength to play at the fifth Major Tournament this season. Getting to spend time with her loved ones, including her adoring pets, is undoubtedly just the cherry on top. A cherry that she is clearly absolutely relishing!
