BBC Breakfast took an awkward turn as a young tennis superfan failed to recognise Andy Murray.
Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were visibly uncomfortable during the cringeworthy incident, which occurred on Thursday’s edition of the show.
They introduced viewers to young tennis player Joanie Melady, who is a big fan of the sport, and was quizzed by the hosts on her favourite tennis player as she sat alongside her dad on the red sofa.
Dressed in orange sports gear, the girl sweetly answered questions, and was unaware of the huge surprise in store for her.
“Who are the big names that you kind of like?” Naga, 48, asked Joanie.
“Emma Radacanu,” she replied, prompting the host to ask more follow up questions in an effort to get the youngster to mention Andy Murray.
Charlie and Naga were left red-faced when Joanie didn’t mention Andy’s name, and they anticipated some embarrassment as they introduced the sweet video clip from the two-time Wimbledon winner.
“Okay, well, that’s gonna kind of make the next moment a little bit awkward, but very, very funny,” Naga said.
