Andy Murray’s brother Jamie wades into row over ‘disrespectful’ Wimbledon snub

Jamie Murray gave his thoughts on Wimbledon’s latest promotional poster after he questioned where his brother Andy was.

Andy Murray’s brother Jamie admitted that he thought Wimbledon’s latest promotional poster was “disrespectful” towards the two-time champion. The Murrays’ uncle had already slammed the tournament for failing to include the former world No 1 in a new illustration showing past, present and future champions.

Wimbledon caused a stir after releasing the latest in a series of illustrations promoting the upcoming Championships. The poster depicted stars old and new with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner front and centre.

Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were also pictured along with retired stars like Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe while the Williams sisters were hidden at the back. It caused controversy with Murray’s fans and family questioning his absence from the poster.

Doubles star Jamie Murray commented on Instagram asking where Andy was and at Queen’s on Wednesday, he admitted that his brother should have been included. “I thought so,” he said when asked if he thought it was disrespectful to the two-time champion.

“I mean he was part of the big four for 10 years, maybe more. Obviously, he was No 1 in the world and then he smashed up his hip, and since then it’s been a bit tough going for him. But he won the singles twice in an incredible era of tennis and made another final.
