Tiger Woods shares son Charlie’s cheeky target but golf icon bluntly shuts it down

Tiger Woods has revealed that his teenage son holds an ambition to beat his legendary father at golf by the tender age of 14. But given that Charlie Woods has already reached the birthday milestone back in February, the youngster only has 10 months left to realise his goal.

The 15-times Major winner was picked up on camera talking about his son while practising with fellow PGA Tour professional Collin Morikawa. In the video, that was shot for golf brand TaylorMade, Woods can be heard explaining to a shocked Morikama how 14-year-old Charlie has already outdriven him once.

With world number two Scottie Scheffler watching on in the distance, Morikawa asks Woods: “Has Charlie beat you yet?” to which Woods replies: “Not yet. He outdrove me the other day though.”

A disbelieving Morikawa says: “Shut up. Rob was saying he was carrying 260 [yards], but even if he’s carrying 260 that still shouldn’t outdrive you?”

When asked if his son plays from the same tees as him, Woods said: “Yep. He doesn’t play the Tiger tees but he’ll play the blacks. I was like ‘damn’! First time [he’s been outdriven], so it’s coming. He wants to beat me by the time he turns 14. Good luck!”
