American golfer Jordan Spieth – a former world number one – will take on the best at The Open 2018 Championship at Carnoustie this morning, after a very exciting year to date.
Yesterday saw a tough start for the talented sportsman,who rescued a birdie on 11 after finding rough. But the 24-year-old is hoping to defend his title at the British Open, after past wins at the US championship and Masters Tournament two years previously.
Even if the PGA Tour star fails to retain the “coolest” trophy, he seemingly has plenty going on in his private life to keep him busy.
Jordan confirmed that he had proposed to girlfriend Annie Verret over Christmas 2017 during a press conference in January.
“It was nice,” the Texan player commented, according to PGATour.com.
Jordan continued: “My brother was in town and her sister got in town, so we had our families there afterwards and it was a great night, really excited.”
While not going into details about the particulars, he said it had been in the planning for a long time.
“I had a decent idea, and then I was pretty sick,” the star went on. “I had to have a backup plan. But I woke up and felt good that day and went through with it.”
It came just weeks after a picture started circulating on social media of what is believed to be Jordan and Annie, with the latter sporting a huge diamond ring.
Who is Annie Verret?
Jordan is believed to have met his wife-to-be at high school in Texas and they have been together ever since, despite attending different colleges.
