‘Nobody’s Really Had Any Negative..’: Ahead of Another LIV Golf Event, Brooks Koepka Makes An Honest Confession About Professionals’ Mindset Towards the Defectors
Besides the intense gameplay, the Masters Tournament brought another thing to the golf world: unison. It was one of the few times several golfers from both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf side had come together. While many anticipated high tensions and rough times on the course, there was none of that. And Brooks Koepka ahead of LIV’s event in Australia, got honest about the mindsets the pros form opposing ends have with each other.
Despite many immensely worrying about both sides dishonoring the prestigious major with unsportsmanlike behavior, the event passed ever so smoothly. Not once did controversies about the players’ tours come up. And while this surprised many in the golf world, Koepka wasn’t one of them. As per him, things were never bad.
The golfer claimed that however bad the relationship between the two sides seemed, that wasn’t the truth. He claimed that the players from the two sides interacted often off the court too. “We’ve kind of experienced it all behind closed doors,” he said in an interview ahead of LIV Golf’s event Adeline event in Australia. “I mean, I could run into 15 Tour guys if I wanted to, in a day.”
He claimed that where the players played physically didn’t matter to the others, regardless of which side they were on. “We still communicate, we still play together, we still practice together, we do everything,” he claimed, busting the myth that there were high tensions on both sides. “It’s the exact same. We’re still the same people.”
