In recent years, former World No. 3 Alexander Zverev has been in the headlines for reasons right and wrong. The German star has emerged as an exciting prospect for the future of men’s tennis. Although he’s a young lad, he has won some of the big tournaments on the circuit.

Recently, Alexander Zverev went back in time and reflected on the number of sacrifices he made to be in this position. Unlike other teenagers, the German athlete was not into the partying culture or hanging out with friends. He maintained a disciplined attitude and focused on his tennis. He pictured himself as a professional player and worked towards his goal.

The 24-year-old Hamburg-born player stated, “I think you miss normal teenage life, parties, going out, that sort of thing. But I was always very determined. I knew what I wanted. I knew I had to be disciplined and work extremely hard for the things that I wanted to achieve.”

Alexander Zverev does not regret any decisions
One can sense the maturity in the German player. He maintained an individual cannot have it both ways, trying to maintain a balance between partying and concentrating on tennis is just not feasible. Therefore, he missed out on many of the activities youngsters engage in. At the end of the day, however, he has no regrets because he’s doing what he loves.

The 2020 US Open finalist further added, “If you want to have both, you won’t be successful. So, yes, I needed to let a lot of things out of my life from a young age, but I ‘was happy to do it because now I’m doing what I love.”

Earlier in the season, Sascha lifted his first title of the year at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco, Mexico. He defeated Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

At the moment, Alexander is playing at the Mutua Madrid Open 2021. He will be playing his pre-quarterfinal match against British player Dan Evans.
