Camila Giorgi saw red as she flung her racket into the middle of the court during a heated first round match at the Miami Open. The Italian bombshell faced Kaia Kanepi, ranked No 57 in the world, during Tuesday’s opening round – and things soon took a sour turn.
After claiming the first set on a tie-break, Giorgi failed to get the job done in the second as the experienced Estonian pulled her way back into contention, winning the set again on a tie break.
With the match slowly drifting away from her, the world No 44 was left utterly frustrated. She eventually vented it out by throwing her racket into the middle of the court after an intense rally.
Despite letting her anger get the better of her, the 31-year-old claimed the final set after all, holding her nerves to get the better of Kanepi in her third tie-break of the day.
