Roger Federer: ‘My children make some funny and strange requests for Christmas’

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, the man of many other records in the professional tennis world, is married to his wife Mirka Vavrinec since 2009. Together, the couple has two sets of twins: 10-year-olds Myla and Charlene, and 5-year-olds Lennart and Leo.

The Swiss star admitted in an interview to La Tribune de Geneve that each of his children prepared a Christmas list: “They write their list and sometimes there are some funny and strange requests. The most problematic one concerns pets.

We are not sedentary enough to have pets. It would make no sense. One day, when we are more often at home, we will welcome an animal. But yes, the children compile the gifts they have wanted for a long time. Afterwards, that doesn’t mean they’ll receive them all.

“ The Swiss star talked about many other subjects in this interview including his calendar, his top priority, and his “big challenge” until mid-January. Federer also made a comparison between himself with Pete Sampras and said he may retire before 2023.

The World No. 3 has recently defeated Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-7 6-2 in an exhibition in Hangzhou, China, where he also played against Mike and Bob Bryan, teaming up with the German. The two Europeans lost in two tie breaks against the American twins, who are playing their last season on the ATP tour as they will retire at the 2020 US Open. Federer, who skips the ATP Cup, will start his 2020 campaign at the Australian Open.
