Roger Federer explains message he sent Rafael Nadal on his wedding day after invite snub

Roger Federer has revealed that he sent Rafael Nadal a congratulatory message on his wedding day.

Federer and Nadal have become close friends over recent years, despite their world-renowned rivalry.

So, it came as a surprise to tennis fans when Federer revealed that he hadn’t received an invitation to Nadal’s wedding.

But, the Swiss star said that he doesn’t have any problem with not being invited, and he still wished Nadal the best for his marriage.

“I was not invited and I did not expect it,” Federer told Yahoo Sport on Sunday.

“That’s not a problem at all. I congratulated him on his wedding day and I did not expect him to reply.

Federer admitted didn’t anything about Nadal’s wedding last month.

Instead, he had already made training plans ahead of the Swiss Indoors tournament, which started on Monday (October 21).

“You should understand you cannot believe everything that appears on the reports,” Federer said last month.

“I do not know anything about it. And I have a plan for the weekend before the Basel tournament.”

Nadal married his long-term partner Xisca Perello in Majorca on Saturday, with a number of famous faces in attendance.

Fellow tennis stars David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez were spotted at the wedding, which took place at La Fortazela fortress, on the northern part of the island.
