The pressure is on Novak Djokovic to be the best in history

Novak Djokovic’s 2022 has been a roller coaster of emotions. He started the year with the dream of becoming the tennis player with the most Grand Slams in history, but saw his dream fade when he was unable to play in Australia and New York.

Still, the Belgrade native is getting things back on track with back-to-back titles in Tel Aviv and Astana, as well as securing his place at the ATP Finals in Turin.

After beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 at the ATP 500 in Astana, Djokovic lifted the 90th title of his career, bringing him ever closer to his goal of being the all-time leading winner.

Nadal is his next target, who has 92 ATP crowns. Jimmy Connors’ 109 still seems far away, but for the Serbian it has become clear that nothing is impossible.

With a shorter season than usual for Djokovic, he has won four of the nine tournaments he has played so far.

He triumphed at the Rome Masters 1000, Wimbledon, the ATP 250 in Tel Aviv and now the ATP 500 in Astana.

As such, he has been crowned in all the categories of the circuit. Of his 90 titles, 64 have come on hard court, his specialty.
