Rules on Emma Raducanu’s new Russian coach being banned for Wimbledon
EMMA RADUCANU’s new coach could have accompanied her at Wimbledon if they had been working together at the time, despite Russian players being banned from the event.
Emma Raducanu has hired Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov ahead of the summer North American hardcourt swing. The British number one will be guided by the 2006 Davis Cup winner starting at next week’s Washington Open.
According to Mail Online, if their initial spell working together is a fruitful one, the 39-year-old will guide the teen through her time in North America which will finish with her second appearance at the US Open, where she is the defending champion.
However, if Tursurnov had been the Brit’s coach at Wimbledon, he would have been allowed to enter despite the ban imposed on those from Russia and Belarus.
