Tiger Woods to get his wish as part of controversial LIV Golf and PGA Tour merger

Greg Norman gave his blessing to LIV Golf’s merge with the sport’s other two main tours, but he may no longer continue his role with the Saudi-backed series. It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for the world of golf after it was announced the PGA Tour and DP World Tour had agreed to merge with LIV Golf.

The controversial decision caught many off guard with PGA Tour players reportedly left unaware that any kind of merger was near being agreed. Both the PGA and DP were involved in bitter litigation with LIV Golf dating back to last year due to players being suspended.

There was plenty of bitterness between the divided groups of players with long-term friendships broken. But the merger now brings an abrupt end to the anti-trust lawsuit filed by LIV Golf as the sport moves in a new direction.

That may be without controversial figure Norman, who was named by both Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods as part of their reason for disliking LIV Golf. Speaking back in November, Woods called for Norman’s resignation in a bid to help the sport heal from the damage done over the past 12 months.

“There is an opportunity out there if both organisations put a stay on their litigation. That’s the problem,” he said. “There is no willingness to negotiate if you have litigation against you. I think Greg has to go first of all.
