Paula Badosa hit with bad luck again, out of French Open due to unfortunate injury
Paula Badosa has withdrawn from the French Open after sustaining a stress fracture in her spine. Badosa, 25, has again been hit with brutal luck as earlier this year the Spaniard contracted an injury just before the Australian Open and missed the opening Grand Slam of the season.
Now, Badosa is also set to miss the second Grand Slam tournament of the year. “Just when everything seemed to be fine again, I received bad news just before start of a Grand Slam. At the tournament in Rome, I suffered a stress fracture in my spine.
It has been very hard news after such a difficult start of the season with injuries. This is going to keep me out of the competition for some weeks. Thanks to all of you who are with me no matter what. I’ll keep you updated,” Badosa announced.

No fourth French Open main draw appearance for Badosa in 2023
Badosa has made three French Open main draw appearances so far in her career – with all coming in the last three years.
In 2021, Badosa reached the French Open quarterfinal before losing to Tamara Zidansek. For this year, Badosa was hoping to do well at the French Open. During this year’s clay season, Badosa clinched some notable wins and she also reached the quarterfinal at a WTA 1000 event in Rome.
Badosa looked to be on the rise and recently sounded very happy with the direction in which her results were heading. “It’s been several weeks now that I think it has been going from less to more, it’s being positive, I’m feeling good, I’m winning good matches.
Obviously, I’d like to reach the final rounds but this is a process and I think I’m on the right path,” Badosa told Eurosport in Rome. Just when it seemed Badosa was on the rise again, she received absolutely brutal news.
