‘Give Him a Break’: Years Before Taking a Jibe at Tiger Woods, Ex Lindsey Vonn Famously Defended Him For a Poor Week of Golf in 2013

The fans of Tiger Woods were waiting for him to grab his 16th major victory at the 87th edition of the Masters Tournament. Tiger Woods won the 2012 Memorial Tournament. But he did not have a very thrilling start. His then-girlfriend and Olympic gold medalist, Lindsey Vonn, did not give up on him. During a red carpet of the CFDA Fashion Awards in NYC, “Extra’s” AJ Calloway talked to Vonn and asked about her views on Woods’ performance that week. The Olympic skier defended her boyfriend and said, “Oh, come on, he had one bad week. Give him a break, all right?“

Calloway asked if everything would go fine or not. Vonn was cool and calm. She replied with confidence, “We’re not broken up. Things are all good, okay? We just had a bad week.” Skier added, “It’s not the US Open. The US Open is in like in a week and a half.” She asked his fans to calm down and have patience. “ We’re all good. All right. Everyone just chill out, everybody just calm down, right,” Vonn prompted. Calloway asked her if she was going to see the event live.

Woods finished the Memorial Tournament at nine-under par. Which was two strokes better than Rory Sabbatini and Andres Romero. He shot a five-under 67 on Sunday, which was also tied for the day’s lowest round. However, this was GOAT’s second victory of the season, fifth in the Memorial, and 73rd overall in the PGA. The pro golfer overcame a penalty of four strokes on the last day to win the Memorial for the second time in the previous four years. He proved Vonn right then. But the tables turned in all these years, and now her words are different.
