The Spaniard, who had already withdrawn before the semifinal against Daria Kasatkina at the Adelaide International 2 due to pain in her adductors, was also forced to give up the first Grand Slam of the year.

The injury had already revealed itself in the quarterfinal match, against Beatriz Haddad Maia. In place of Badosa, the Brazilian lucky loser Laura Pigossi entered the draw.
