Murray was defeated 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 by fellow veteran Stan Wawrinka and waved goodbye to the crowd as if he knew that he will not return next year, though will be competing in the doubles competition this week.

Nadal, a 14-time winner of the event, was handed an incredibly tough draw as he kickstarts his proceedings against world No. 4 Alexander Zverev today, having been given the afternoon session that Nadal had asked for.

Also in action today are the likes of Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur, Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Coco Gauff in what is sure to be another blockbuster day of Grand Slam action.
