Breaking News: Scottie Scheffler ‘Will Play at PGA Championship After Wife Meredith Gives Birth to Their First Child’

Scottie Scheffler is expected to compete in the PGA Championship this week after his wife Meredith gave birth to their first child.

The Masters winner has remained silent on social media, but before the Augusta tournament he said his first child would be born “in three weeks” and that he would step off the tour if Meredith went into labor during the competition.

Now, according to Sports Illustrated reporter Bob Harig, his first child has been born, and Scheffler will compete in the PGA Championship at Valhalla.

The fan responded to Harig by asking, “Why are you using the hashtag babyborn when his baby isn’t born yet?”

Harig simply replied, “Because yes.”

Scheffler is notoriously scrutinized when it comes to his life away from golf, but he will be prepared to face a lot of questions about his new acquisition if he sticks to the terms of Tuesday’s news conference.

Scheffler will be the favorite to win his second major this year, despite Rory McIlroy’s stunning triumph on Sunday at Quail Hollow.

McIlroy stormed to victory with a stunning six-under final round, beating Xander Schauffle by five shots after starting the first day behind the American.

McIlroy will now try to end his 10-year drought at the site of his last triumph in 2014, and admitted on Sunday he feels luck is on his side.

“I’m starting another major this year feeling really good,” he said.

“The stars seem to be aligning a little bit. But I have a lot of golf to play and a lot of great players to try to beat.

No more so than Scheffler, if Harig is right.

The world No. 1 played RBC Heritage the week after The Masters and won that tournament by three shots. Scheffler has been nearly unstoppable in 2024, winning four times in his last five starts and finishing second in his second.

However, since winning Harbor Town, he has focused on his family.

Scheffler, 27, is a two-time Major winner, with both triumphs coming at The Masters.
