Rory McIlroy in Deep Trouble? ‘Dangerous’ Cognizant Classic Delay May Affect Time With Dad at Seminole

It appears the dangerous weather in Palm Beach has become more of an obstacle for Rory McIlroy. The final round of the Cognizant Classic had been hit with nothing short of a setback as it got delayed to Monday. However, the professional has another reason to worry. What is it? Well, he is set to play at the Seminole with his father.

The Seminole Pro-Member has always witnessed the presence of the 34-year-old, along with a family member by his side. Moreover, due to the same, there’s a high chance that the Northern Irishman may not be present on the final day of play at the Champions Course at the PGA National Resort.

A dicey situation for Rory McIlroy

The golfer managed to finish his final day’s play at the Cognizant Classic with a score of 10-under 274, leading him to finish at T16 by the time the play got suspended. Meanwhile, a lot of professionals have not managed to finish the round like him and would, in turn, try to do so on Monday, which would change his position further on the scoreboard.

But the true concern lies with his schedule. The 4-time major champ is set to tee it off on Monday at the Seminole Golf Club with Gerry McIlroy, his father, at 8:32 A.M. However, the conclusion of the final round at the Champions Course would begin at 8 a.m. on the same day. Truly a dilemma for the athlete who would have to choose one or the other, becoming absent from either the PGA Tour event or the Seminole Pro-Member.

Meanwhile, Shane Bacon, a writer of the sport, shared a tweet on his X handle, which consisted of a small GIF and a caption. The post hilariously tries to portray McIlroy as “trying to finish this round before darkness so he can make his 8:32 tee time tomorrow with pops at the Seminole Pro-Member,” all the while sharing the video of a guy outrunning a golf cart!

Meanwhile, the exclusive event on Monday would witness many elites from the sport of golf and other celebrities teeing it off at the Seminole Golf Club. But, more importantly, the focus would be on a certain professional who would be debuting at the same, none other than Tiger Woods!
