Nicola Peltz addresses alleged ‘cold war feud’ rumours with mother-in-law Victoria Beckham
Nicola Peltz Beckham has addressed rumours about an alleged feud with her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham, pouring cold water on the speculation.
The Transformers: Age of Extinction actress also revealed she felt that rumours had started when she wore a Valentino wedding dress rather than a Victoria Beckham gown for her big day with husband Brooklyn back in April – and had a very simple explanation for why she didn’t.
Tackling the topic for the first time, head on, as part of Brooklyn’s cover interview with Variety, the 27-year-old was candid in her response.
‘I was going to, and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,’ Nicola told the publication.
Addressing the alleged bone of contention, as reported, she added: ‘She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it.’
With neither Nicola nor Victoria mentioning the gown publicly ahead of the big day, but having been seen communicating online since, the actress then pinned that down on being what sparking the assumptions of a feud.
That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,’ she said.
Page Six had previously reported that the two were locked in ‘a cold war’ ahead of the wedding, with a source telling the publication: ‘They can’t stand each other and don’t talk. The build-up to the wedding was horrendous.’
Brooklyn also added his support to his wife’s statement contradicting the reports, sharing: ‘Everyone gets along, which is good.’
The new interview came shortly after Nicola opened up about her struggles in an emotional post, where she said she wanted to show fans a different side of herself as she posted candid Instagram snaps.
‘Sometimes I find it hard to show the sad bits of me,’ she wrote.
The Bates Motel star went on to say that growing up in a large family of seven siblings and two ‘very strong parents’ made me ‘really tough.
