PGA Tour Update: Will Jordan Spieth Suffer $20,000 Fine for His Infamous Slow Putting at the Sentry 2024?
The 2024 calendar-opener event for the PGA Tour is at its final stage now. Chris Kirk sits at the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the tournament. However, chasing him into the fourth round are Akshay Bhatia, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, and Byeong Hun An. Other than keeping his eyes on the prize, Spieth has some problems to worry about too!
The 30-year-old might have incurred a heavy fine from the PGA Tour. The reason for that stems from the recent gameplay changes made by PGAT and the contradiction in his play style with the announced changes.
The American golfer is competing in The Sentry 2024, gunning for the trophy. He is currently in a joint third position with Xander Schauffele and Byeong Hun An, with a score of under 19. However, during the third round, Spieth became a target of criticism.
He spent a long time lining up a roll of no more than three feet for birdie on the par-5 15th at Kapalua Plantation Gold Course. This dilly-dallying to take a simple shot earned him the criticism of his peers and golf fans online. Kevin Kisner even launched a comment saying, “If I was going to help him, I’d tell him to speed it up on these and just knock it in. He knows how to make these.”
