Tiger Woods issues response to potential £230m deal for Jon Rahm to join LIV Golf
Tiger Woods has expressed his surprise at rumours Jon Rahm looks set to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf. The speculation comes after reports that the 2023 Masters champion is set to sign a deal with LIV worth around £230million.
Multiple reports have suggested Rahm’s deal will last until 2029. If true, this would make Rahm the highest-profile signing for LIV Golf since its launch in June 2022.
Rumours about Rahm have been fuelled by his withdrawal from the indoor golf league run by Woods and Rory McIlroy. Rahm cited time commitments as his reason for pulling out of TGL but has remained notably quiet about his future on social media.
Despite previously laughing off suggestions that he might join LIV, Rahm has not commented on the recent rumours. Woods, 47, was asked about Rahm’s future after playing the second round of the Hero World Challenge on his PGA Tour return.
He told reporters: “Hypothetically would it surprise me? Yes, but there’s so many different things that have happened in the last, as you said, 48 hours but also in the last few weeks.
