Classy Iga Swiatek has special message for ‘king’ Novak Djokovic

WTA world No 1 Iga Swiatek congratulated ‘king’ Novak Djokovic on his “incredible” ATP Finals win and the Pole also took a moment to applaud Jannik Sinner’s great Turin run. In this year’s ATP Finals win, world No 1 Djokovic saw off Sinner 6-3 6-3 to break a tie with Roger Federer and become the first-ever man with seven titles at the season-ending tournament.

After losing to Sinner in the group stage, Djokovic got his revenge against the home favorite in the Turin final on Sunday. Sinner was 4-0 in Turin before losing to Djokovic in the final. “Incredible. Congratulations @DjokerNole (crown emoji).

Also congrats to you @janniksin for playing inspiring tennis this whole week,” Swiatek wrote on X.

Swiatek congratulates Djokovic on his latest success
Since losing the Wimbledon final, Djokovic has won four consecutive tournaments – the US Open, ATP Finals, and the Masters events in Cincinnati and Paris.

This year, Djokovic appeared in 12 tournaments and lifted seven titles – the Serb has a 55-6 record on the year. After beating Sinner in the Turin final, Djokovic admitted he was happy with how he was able to respond after losing to the Italian in the group stage.

“It’s one of the best seasons I’ve had in my life, no doubt. To crown it with a win against a hometown hero in Jannik, who has played amazing tennis this week, is phenomenal. I’m very proud of the performances these past two days against Alcaraz and Sinner, probably the best two players in the world next to me and Medvedev at the moment — and the way they have been playing, I had to step it up.

I had to win the matches and not wait for them to hand me the victory and that’s what I’ve done. I think I played different tactically than I did in the group stage against Jannik, and just overall it was a phenomenal week,” Djokovic said.
