As 2x Major Champion Shoots a Big Warning, Will Nelly Korda Get a Chance at Patriotic Redemption in 2024
This is a big week for Stacy Lewis as she steps into the semi-final of this 2023 LPGA season. Apart from the prize money, Lewis is also fighting to maintain her regular status in 2024 and to earn a spot in the Tour Championship next week.
And while she is dealing with these personal challenges Lewis is also bearing the weight of being the captain of next year’s Solheim Cup. But it is not an easy task at all. Being the captain, she has to swipe some players for the betterment of results. Could Nelly Korda be the end result of this decision?
Stacy Lewis to make some tough calls for the 2024 Solheim Cup
This term has been very challenging for Team US at the Solheim Cup. Firstly, the selection of some of the candidates was a bit questionable. While names like Rose Zhang who are at their very peak at this moment were heartily welcomed by the fans, the selection of Nelly Korda was not found suitable by a few critics. And then despite giving a tough competition to Europe, when the US lost, the stress on Lewis now has increased.
While she is performing at the Gainbridge at Pelican she was questioned about the game plan for the 2024 Solheim Cup. When asked about is she is expecting a lot of changes in her team next year, Lewis answered “Yes and no. There is definitely some changes to be made. I think there were a lot of things we did that worked and some things we still need to look at tinkering with.”
