Simon Cowell breaks silence after broken back injury: ‘Read the manual before you ride’
X Factor boss Simon Cowell, 60, has broken his silence after he was rushed to hospital on Sunday following suffering a broken back during a serious accident. He crashed his electric bike crash in Malibu and underwent a gruelling six hours of surgery where he “narrowly avoided paralysis”.
Taking to Twitter in the early hours of this morning, the Britain’s Got Talent judge surprised fans by addressing his injury so soon after it happened.
“Some good advice…” he began.
“If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back.
In a separate post, he sent his gratitude to the many nurses and doctors who tended to him in his hour of need.
“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met.
“Stay safe everyone. Simon.”
Fans were quick to take to the comments section to wish him well.
“Wow take care of yourself,” one wrote.
“Hope you feel better soon Simon!” a second added.
A third prayed: “Praying for your speedy recovery!”
Reports of the music mogul’s injury broke yesterday after he fell while testing his new bike with his son Eric.
Simon was rushed to the Providence Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica as a spokesman for the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent boss said at the time: “Simon has broken his back in a number of places in a fall from his bike whilst testing a new electric bike in the courtyard of his home in Malibu with his family.”
