‘AGT’ Judge Simon Cowell and Fiancée Lauren Silverman Have a Controversial Love Story

Simon Cowell is back for the premiere of America’s Got Talent season 17. After crowning magician Dustin Tavella the winner of AGT season 16, the British TV personality is taking his seat next to fellow judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara.

AGT hopefuls should expect to hear Simon’s one-of-a-kind feedback again. After all, he has never been shy to say what’s on his mind. We all remember his bold and brash comments from the early American Idol years, don’t we?

During those early TV days, the music and television mogul considered himself to be a ladies man. But then Simon reportedly started dating his now-fiancée, Lauren Silverman. As AGT fans may have heard, Simon popped the question this past December and it was nothing short of special.

How Simon met Lauren
He first met her at Barbados’ Sandy Lane resort in 2004 when she was vacationing with her then-husband, real estate mogul Andrew Silverman. Simon and Andrew hit it off and, according to sources, Simon set his eyes on Lauren early on.

Still, Simon continued to date other women, including entertainment journalist Terri Seymour and makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy. He was engaged to Mezhgan from 2010 to 2011 but later claimed it was “a big mistake.”

After two failed relationships, Simon went back to someone who made him feel at ease — Lauren, a 44-year-old New York City socialite.

Things turn scandalous
Even though she was married, Simon and Lauren secretly started dating. However, when Lauren got pregnant in 2013, the couple was forced to make their relationship public.

Soon after, her husband filed for an at-fault divorce, citing adultery as the main reason. Andrew and Lauren finalized their divorce in November of that year. In the divorce settlement, there was a strict stipulation that lasted until January 2015, which stated that Simon was required to stay away from the couple’s son, Adam, or face a $50,000 penalty.

An heir is born
Lauren gave birth to their son Eric — named after Simon’s father — on February 14, 2014. Fatherhood softened Simon. “People have asked me if I have changed since I have had Eric and of course you do, you can’t help it,” he told Daily Mail.

But the big life change wasn’t easy for the couple. “During the first eight or nine months I was thinking, ‘I don’t think he likes me very much.’ He does remind me of me when I was younger because he knows how to try it on and how to get away with things,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

As of right now, he says the couple isn’t “ruling out” baby no. 2. “I had a brother when I was younger so I think it’s kind of cool to have two,” he told Extra. “Well, two or three.”
