The 2023 Solheim Cup has been concluded for almost 2 weeks now, but the wounds that it gave to American golfers have not yet healed. Although the Solheim Cup started on a very high note for Team America with a historic swipe of 4-0 during the Friday foursomes, as the tournament’s final day approached, the historic swipe turned into a tied match.
As a result of the tie, the European team retained the glorious Solheim Cup, and the American squad, led by Stacy Lewis had to come back home empty-handed. The loss was indeed disheartening for everyone, but it appears it was most disheartening for the LPGA Cover Girl, Nelly Korda.
After being the face of the tournament for so long, Korda has become MIA ever since the loss at Finca Cortesin. Now the question appears, with her positioning herself in the backseat, is Nelly Korda losing her aura, charm, and persona of that of LPGA Tour’s cover girl?

Although the LPGA Tour has many stellar and talented golfers on the roster such as Megan Khang, Rose Zhang, Lexi Thompson, and others. But, it is Nelly Korda who steals away the hearts of fans with her game and her child-like soul. Owing to her off-the-course and on-the-course popularity in the golf world, Nelly Korda is rightfully the cover girl of the LPGA Tour.
But after all that she has been through in 2023, her cover girl persona might be depleting. This season has been a hard one for the younger Korda sister as she sought redemption from her back pain and remained winless for most part of the year. Her only win this season has been in the Aramco Team Series in London.
After a sub-standard year, the 25-year-old tried to seek the longing redemption in Spain along with her team, but after her singles match with Carlota Ciganda resulted in 14-14 on the board, she shattered into pieces as it meant that the European team would be keeping the cup until next time.
Even during the 72 hours of gruesome golf at Finca Cortesin, Korda’s American compatriots such as Solheim Cup veteran Thomspon overshadowed her and came out shining after a very tough professional year. It was just the Korda who could not get enough shine this year during the prestigious biennial tournament.
Ever since the tragic and unfortunate loss in Spain, the 25-year-old LPGA star has barely made any appearance on social media, and even so, she was not part of the LPGA tournaments, Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, last weekend. She even let go of a few other paychecks as she decided to sit out of this week’s The Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America and the Aramco Team Series Hong Kong with a $1 million prize purse.

Although her silence and absence from the golf world have been deafening, it appears that she needed to take the rest for her physical and mental well-being. Though Nelly Korda is absent from the professional tournaments, she is back on the course to brush up her skills, as she prepares for her ferocious comeback soon.
