The tennis world was in awe of the Davis Cup doubles match between an Andy Murray-led Great Britain and the USA but were left dumfounded at the late night scheduling.
The thrilling doubles decider in front of a packed house finished at 12.58am when Murray and Joe Salisbury fell to Rajeev Ram and Jack Sock.
Fans flocked to the arena in Glasgow at 4pm in what was the first of three matches to decide the winner.
But, with the first two singles matches going to three sets, the doubles match didn’t start before 9pm.
Many of the tennis faithful came to see Andy Murray compete for Great Britain and the three-time grand slam champ strode onto court in front of an adoring crowd.
Murray had the home crowd pumped after taking the first set and leading in the second 7-5, 3-1 in a tight battle.
Sock’s rocket forehand came good and the Americans rattled off five of the next games.
The third set went down to the wire, before Sock and Ram broke at 5-5 to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 just shy of 1am.
Unfortunately for team USA, players will be expected to back up on the same day in the second lot of group matches.
The finishing time sparked anger amongst tennis fans after scheduling once again came to the forefront of a tournament.
