Jordan Spieth Improves but Makes ‘Too Many Mistakes’ and Misses the Cut
Jordan Spieth made some progress in his latest start, but it wasn’t enough to avoid missing the cut at the Wyndham Championship.
Spieth shot a 70 in the first round, his best score of the season, but he followed that up with rounds of 73 and 74 to finish at 14 over par.
The 28-year-old said he was pleased with his improvement, but he also acknowledged that he made “too many mistakes.”
“I hit the ball really well,” Spieth said. “I just didn’t make enough putts and I made a few too many mistakes.”
Spieth is still searching for his first win since the 2021 Valero Texas Open. He has struggled for consistency this season, and he is currently ranked 122nd in the world.
Despite his recent struggles, Spieth remains optimistic about his future.
“I’m still confident in my game,” Spieth said. “I know I can play well. I just need to keep working hard and I’ll get there.”
Spieth will next tee it up at the Northern Trust, the first event of the FedExCup playoffs. He will be looking to improve his ranking and make a run at the FedExCup title.
**What Can Spieth Do to Improve?**
Spieth has made a lot of progress in recent weeks, but he still has some work to do if he wants to return to the top of the leaderboard.
One area where Spieth needs to improve is his putting. He has made just 1.78 putts per green in regulation this season, which is 178th in the world.
Spieth also needs to be more disciplined off the tee. He has hit an average of 3.13 fairways per round this season, which is 167th in the world.
If Spieth can improve his putting and driving, he will be a force to be reckoned with on the PGA Tour.
