Andy Roddick comments on Rafael Nadal being rumored as future Real Madrid President

Andy Roddick admits he is a bit surprised by the rumors of Rafael Nadal potentially becoming the future Real Madrid FC President. Nadal, 37, is a huge Real Madrid supporter and it is not a secret that the Spanish tennis superstar is deeply respected within the club.

Last week, Spanish media reported that Nadal could replace 76-year-old Florentino Perez when the long-time Real Madrid President decided to step down from his role. If that happens, Roddick thinks it will be “fantastic” but noted Nadal will probably need some time to learn and get experience about the job.

“John Elway did it with the Broncos but he also is a football player.

But this is a surprise and it is fantastic if it happens. I think that there would be some necessary on-the-job experience needed real quick, this will be really cool. I can’t pretend to know what will go on or what in the world he would have to learn but this is a surprising headline,” Roddick said on Tennis Channel.

Meanwhile, Nadal is currently recovering from surgery he underwent on his psoas muscle. On June 2nd, Nadal surgically addressed the injury that has kept him sidelined since the Australian Open. In his statement after the surgery, Nadal said his recovery was estimated at five months, which meant he would miss the remainder of the 2023 season.”Hello everyone.

As you know last night I had surgery. Everything went well and the arthroscopy was on the left psoas tendon that has kept me out of competition since January. An old injury to the labrum of my left hip was also regularized, which will surely help the better evolution of the tendon.

I want to thank doctors Marc Philippon, Jaume Vilaró and Angel Ruiz-Cotorro for their work. I will start progressive functional rehabilitation immediately and the normal recovery process they tell me is 5 months, if all goes well.

Once again thank you for all the support you have shown me and that you show me every day. Today also on my birthday. Not in the desired or dreamed place, although THANK YOU anyway,” Nadal said in his statement.
