Tennis fans are still pinching themselves after a superb weekend of Wimbledon finals, which saw Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova take home the men’s and women’s titles. The gates of the All England Club may now be closed, but there are still storylines emerging from an exciting two weeks at SW19, which saw Novak Djokovic suffer a shock defeat on Centre Court.
As Alcaraz further cemented his status as the new kid on the block, eyes are already casting forward to the US Open. The Spaniard prevailed at Flushing Meadows last year, and action at the forthcoming tournament gets underway at the end of next month.
Djokovic has already admitted that he hopes their epic five-set battle will be the start of an entertaining rivalry, with the Serb looking to hunt down the youngster at the top of the world rankings over the coming weeks.
