Novak Djokovic branded ‘absolute joke’ but not the same as Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic’s latest achievement has been lauded by Andrew Castle after the Serb won a record 23rd men’s singles Grand Slam title. But the former British pro admitted that seeing the world No 1 in action still isn’t the same as witnessing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s “beauty”.

Castle called Djokovic a joke as he applauded his 23rd Major victory at the recent French Open. The 36-year-old is now the most decorated man in Grand Slam history and the only man to win all four Slams at least three times.

Speaking to Express Sport on behalf of aceodds.com, the tennis pundit said: “Well, I mean Novak Djokovic is an absolute joke, isn’t he? I mean, what he’s produced over the years and what I’ve seen him produce at times, it’s just been a privilege to watch him.”

Castle also had his say on the GOAT debate as he explained why Federer and Nadal were exciting to watch despite Djokovic having the more complete game. He continued: “And now, something that a lot of people were saying five or six years ago, and more people are saying now, is that he’s the greatest player of all time. So, you know, if you have a chance to watch him…

Explaining the difference between them, he added: “I mean, you think of Nadal with his eyes flashing and hair and the muscles rippling in the sun. That’s the image with Rafa at the French Open where he’s won it 14 times.

“You look at Roger Federer and I mean, that’s just like, it’s a Rolls Royce, isn’t it? And it’s magnificent in its own way and probably the most beautiful player I’ve ever seen, Roger Federer, balletic.
