Maria Sharapova shows off her toned bikini body as she enjoys Mexico holiday with Chelsea Handler after drug scandal

Maria Sharapova soaked up the sun this weekend as she headed to Mexico with Chelsea Handler .

Slipping her toned body into a green skimpy bikini, the blonde beauty looked like she didn’t have a care in the world as she relaxed on the beach in Los Cabos.

Striding across the beach the 28-year-old showed off her endless legs and toned abs in the skimpy bikini, which she teamed with a pair of sunglasses.

The tennis star might have had a tough few weeks, but the drug scandal which has seen suspended from tennis looked far from her mind as she hit the sand.

Chelsea – who stayed under her parasol – had the Russian beauty in fits of giggles as she lay back on the beach, protecting her face with a large straw hat.

Maria should have been deep into the tennis season by now, but following the shock news that she had tested positive for meldonium at the Australian Open the Grand Slam winner was provisionally suspended from tennis.

Her fate will now be left up to an independent tribunal to rule on the case, which could see her banned her for up to four years.

Whether or not she’ll be able to return to the sport is unknown but she’s already lost millions in endorsement deals following the scandal including a £40million deal with Nike.

Maria claimed to have taken the drug meldonium for 10 years due to a family history of heart issues and diabetes and had been unaware it was banned as of January 1st this year.

Defending herself, she said: “I’m proud of how I have played the game. I have been honest and upfront.

“I look forward to the ITF hearing at which time they will receive my detailed medical records.”

She continued: “I hope I will be allowed to play again.”

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) added meldonium to their banned substance list after concluding that it improves blood flow and boosts exercise capacity.
