‘Papa Makes Lots of Mistakes’- Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Confesses to Parental Dilemma Over Burdening Daughter Olympia

There is hardly anyone, who can showcase fatherhood goals as perfectly as Serena Williams‘s husband Alexis Ohanian does. Be it their “papa pancakes” moment or grabbing a bite for Olympia during his work trip, Ohanian hardly fails to impress the tennis fam with his fatherhood responsibilities. However, end of the day a father is also a human being who is allowed to have flaws. That’s why, one day he just wants to confess to his elder daughter about the “mistakes” he makes maybe sometimes as a “flawed human.”

In the podcast Embracing the Gross Parenting with Paul Scheer, Alexis Ohanian indulged in a conversation with the host to speak about being a father, Serena Williams’s pregnancy journey, and his role in the gross side of parenting. Ohanian, who has already impressed his fans by showing off a true father goal, also raised a pertinent question about how parents can accept their guilt in front of their children and teach their kids to be honest. “ I just wonder if I should like go home at dinner tonight and be like, hey, Olympia, just see, you know, Papa makes lots of mistakes. He is a flawed human. Like, is that too much to dump on a first grader? At dinner time?” –asked the Reddit co-founder.

Alexis joined comedian Paul Scheer in this podcast, who has recently surprised his fans with his new memoir, Joyful Recollections of Trauma, a book that contains Scheer’s struggles with an abusive stepfather and traumatic childhood. When Scheer told him how he tends to say sorry to his kids to accept his mistakes as he wishes to “grow with them” and “empathize with them as people“, Ohanian raised the question of whether such parenting can burden kids with their parents’ flaws.

Scheer tried to explain that he wished to let his kids know about his flaws from the beginning so that his kids wouldn’t go through this heartbreak later. He believed that parents should learn to accept their faults and apologize like a normal human beings in front of their kids. He focuses on how such simple parenting tips can help to create a closer bond between a child and his parents.

While Ohanian tries to think if his confessions impact Olympia, Scheer tells him how he apologizes by simply saying he is sorry to his kids and telling them they are right. Scheer in his conversation with Ohanian attacks the authority of the parents and asks to demolish that idea. While Scheer tries to show a new parenting method, Ohanian’s question says that his concern focuses solely on his daughter’s mental well-being above any parenting tip.
