Who Is Scottie Scheffler’s Wife Meredith Scudder? Her Life, Career & Other Interests Explored
Scottie Scheffler often chokes while talking about his wife, Meredith Scudder. His high school sweetheart and now soon-to-be mom, Scudder has stayed by the eight-time PGA Tour winner’s side, during the highs and lows. Fortunately, for Scheffler, the ‘lows’ haven’t been too many so far. Nevertheless, the support of a special someone during the hard journey of life goes a long way.
Not your typical power couple, rather like his world-ranking rival, Rory McIlroy, and his wife Erica Stoll, Scheffler, and his wife, like to keep things ‘low-key’. The golf world has acquainted with Scottie Scheffler’s wife thanks to her appearances on the sidelines. When Scheffler raised his arms after earning her maiden green jacket, he was looking for his beloved Mere outside the ropes. What do we know about the lady resting in the Texas star’s heart?
How did Meredith Scudder meet Scottie Scheffler?
Scudder and Scheffler met each other at the Highland Park High School. The world no.1 might be ferocious on the course and fiercely competitive but was rather shy in approaching his future wife at first. They started off as friends and were at that stage for three years. Fortunately for Scheffler, Meredith Scudder was smitten with the low-key attitude. His feet always stayed on the ground no matter how high he jumped on the basketball court or how long he shot on the golf course.

Scudder, who likes to stay away from the limelight herself, told Golf Digest last year, “At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously,” Possibly, because of that Scudder had no clue about where Scheffler will reach one day. Even when there were early signs of the same.
She only realized how talented the young golfer actually was after watching him in a commercial. They were hanging out at Scudder’s house in 2014 when an advertisement came on the TV. Scottie Scheffler had won the US Junior Amateur Golf Championship in 2013, which allowed him to play at the 2014 AT&T Byron Nelson just as a high school student. His girlfriend, after seeing the commercial, was surprised to find out that Scheffler was already turning heads at that young age.
Nevertheless, they had to attend different universities in Texas. Scheffler attended the University of Texas while she went ahead with Texas A&M University. They were able to remain strong despite being forced into a long-distance relationship for four years following the current world No. 1’s brief internship in Zambia.
When did the two get married?
The couple decided to go on a hike to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in 2020. Far from the madding crowd, Scottie Scheffler asked Scudder to marry him. Cut to a few months later, they walked down the aisle. But only close friends and family were present on December 4 at the very private ceremony.
But some details of the wedding did pour out eventually. People.com reported they had a winter wonderland-themed wedding. Guests were given Santa hats and the newly-married couple was ‘showered’ with snow while exiting the ballroom. But what’s more adorable was that the duo drove away in a golf cart.
Almost four years later, Meredith Scudder and his World No.1 golfer husband, are expecting their first baby. Scottie Scheffler’s wife is expected to deliver sometime in late April or early May. “It’s been a pretty exciting last seven months or so, and we’re looking forward to hopefully getting the baby out of there nice and healthy and with a healthy momma, and then we’ll go from there,” Scheffler recently said in a chat with PGA Tour Sirius/XM Radio.
Meredith Scudder and her philanthropic activities
Scottie Scheffler’s wife is the director of curating opportunities at Behind Every Door (BED), a non-profit organization. She helps provide the youth in underdeveloped neighborhoods in the Dallas area with sports, educational, and creative programs.
Faith being an integral part of their relationship, she believes that everyone has their unique gift, and the children deserve to discover the gifts given to them by God. And that’s what attracted them to the Non-profit as well. In fact, the eight-time PGA Tour winner also volunteers for them once in a while.
Meredith Scudder is also the co-founder, VP, and event planner for a company that supports the lives of people affected by cancer at a very young age—With Purpose College Station. Moreover, she is also the ambassador of a nutrition organization known as Juice Plus, which “delivers concentrated plant-based nutrition that helps you bridge the gap between what you should eat and what you do eat every day.”
Is Scottie Scheffler’s wife well-versed in Golf?
The BED Director did not know anything about the sport before Scheffler came into her life. The golfer has been the one to teach her everything she knows about the game. Although she didn’t have the faintest idea about it, the philanthropist was able to understand much about it later, especially after spending a lot of time on the road with him. The PGA Tour Pro also said that Mere has learned the sport from spending time with his parents, who are avid golf lovers.
Apparently, Scudder also saved the day when Scheffler broke his club ahead of the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions. His wife brought ten 3-woods for Scheffler to choose from. The former Masters champion said Scudder understood how much rigorous work it takes
The couple has had many heart-warming moments on the course. One such special instance includes the 2022 Masters Tournament, where she caddied for her husband. Scottie Scheffler’s wife also carried his bags for the Par 3 contest last year. It remains to be seen if Meredith Scudder travels to Augusta this year as well.
