‘It Might Hurt Them’: Having Athlete Parents, Nelly Korda Once Revealed Their Shocking Influence on Her Career

Nelly Korda has achieved a lot in her golfing career, and her parents played an important part in it. She became the pride of women’s golf when she won a gold medal at the women’s golf event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. However, the former number-one golfer needed to become more skillful, and her parents were by her side.

Many golfers give their parents credit for becoming the pros they are today. Tiger Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, was strict with him. He was the one who molded his son into becoming the G.O.A.T. of golf. Similarly, the influence of Korda’s athletic parents made her one of the finest golfers LPGA has. Even though they were very supportive, did they force her? Earlier this year, she revealed how her parents have helped her achieve her dreams.

On his chat show, Garry Williams interviewed the Korda sisters, Nelly and Jessica. The video, ‘5 Clubs Conversation: Gary Williams with Jessica Korda & Nelly Korda,’ was posted eight months ago on YouTube. It was a descriptive video where the trio talked about sports, their parents, Korda’s and Jessica’s achievements, and much more. However, Gary asked the sisters if it was ever the athlete title of their parents that forced them to get into sports and eventually golf, as her parents were pro tennis players.

Korda replied, “they want us to be happy.” She further explained that they did not force the Korda siblings to do anything. Nor did they want them to be athletes. However, the only thing her parents wanted was happiness for their children. They were aware of the goals and wanted their kids to achieve them. “And you know, do our best. they know what our goals are. And they know how much we want it. I think sometimes it might hurt them more if we don’t achieve something we want.” said Korda.
