Simon Cowell: X Factor boss ‘upset’ after snub from New Year’s Honours list
Simon Cowell, 60, missed out on getting his name on the New Year’s Honours list this time around. And according to a source, he isn’t happy about it.
Posted by the Mail Online, The X Factor boss was apparently told last month that he had been ruled out for a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) despite his charitable efforts that saw him raise a whopping £2 million in just six months.
A source said the judge was “obviously upset” at finding out he had missed out on the honour.
They told The Sun: “Simon is obviously upset.
“He’s never been in this game for recognition but at the same time he’s done more than most to entertain and do good.”
Former footballer David Beckham also wasn’t on the list to receive an Honour this year.
Grease star Olivia Newton-John led the famous names on the Honours list as she becomes a dame, followed by pop legend Sir Elton John.
Both star’s join the Order of the Companions of Honour, of which there are only 65 at any time.
Broadcaster Gabby Logan also becomes an MBE for services to sports broadcasting and promoting women’s sport.
Film director Sam Mendes, who got a knighthood for his contribution to drama, said he was “amazed, delighted and extremely proud”.
