Battling with Pain: Golf legend Lexi Thompson Provides Health Update

Lexi Thompson took to Instagram on Friday to provide an update on her health at a pivotal time in her LPGA season.

This week, the 11-time LPGA Tour winner wrote that she was battling some pain in her hand and in her tailbone from “falling down some stairs” and on Friday, she elaborated on the issues.

 

 

“Little update. Got an MRI on hand and showed swelling and inflammation around the bones and some tendinitis,” she wrote in regards to her hand.

Thompson also revealed that there are indeed injuries to her tailbone but the results of her X-Ray showed “no definitive fracture.”

 

 

“Also got X-Ray on tailbone,” she wrote in the same Instagram story. “And shows cortical irregularity in most distal aspect of coccyx. But no definitive fracture.”

At the Chevron Championship back in April, Thompson revealed she had been experiencing issues with her wrist due to over-practicing.

The 28-year-old’s most recent health update comes in advance of an important stretch of tournaments on the LPGA, which she also acknowledged in her post.

Thompson is set to tee it up at the Annika Driven By Gainbridge from Nov. 9–12 at Pelican Golf Club. Only the top 60 LPGA members (plus ties) advance to the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship the following week. She is currently ranked No. 88 and needs a strong finish for entry into the event.
