‘Miss You Mimi’: LPGA Star Gets Nostalgic As Fan’s Heartwarming Gesture Makes Lexi Thompson Remember Her Late Grandmother
Lexi Thompson might be a competitive golfer, but she has a soft spot for her family in her heart. The 28-year-old is close to her mother, Judy, who has been through several medical scares before.
Yet one of Thompson’s biggest fans is no more. The LPGA star’s late grandmother, Dorothy Fischi, also affectionately called Mimi, passed away due to natural causes last year. While the golfer grieves her death to this day, she was recently delighted with a frame by one of her fans on the course.
After taking a longer break than usual to start her proceedings in the brand-new season, Thompson hasn’t hit the ground running. She is currently participating in the Cognizant Founders Cup. Following a score of two-under-par, she’s currently sharing the 25th spot on the leaderboard.
But, despite a poor start, there was a little surprise in store for her at the event. Presumably, during her play on the course, the star golfer was handed a wonderful gift from an enthusiast. The thoughtful memento was a framed picture of Thompson, her mother, Judy, and her late Mimi.
